Blog Post #54: Editing Day 2

As for my second day of editing, this marks the final segment of my film. I used a lot of overlays in the ending of my film, which is worth an entire blog post.

Overlays are usually on the easier side of filming, but in my film, I chose to layer them. I also decided to create a text bubbles scene. What I mean by a "text bubble" scene, is that there are literal text messages on the screen which can demonstrate the media usage that a teenager uses, and how prevalent it is in today's society. These text bubbles have noises that come with them as they pop up on the screen, and I even gave them an animation that makes it look like they are casually popping up on the screen.

I honestly think that the texting scene added a lot of depth into my film, especially since it shows the stereotypes of teens as well.

As for the overlays at the ending of my film, I chose to remove the volume from them completely. This was an easy step, but using animations on them was frustrating. The app would have multiple tabs just to get to the animations that I wanted, and it even made me sign into another app in order to use the correct fade in and fade out animations that I use in the entire film. I also chose to lower the opacity, or visibleness, on all of the clips which took a while.

Overall, the entire process of editing took me around four hours between just piecing the clips together, recording audios, adding transitions in, adding audios, and correcting wrong placements after rewatching the film back over again. The editing process can be easy, but other times it can be hard- like now.
