Blog Post #57: Essay Formatting

For my critical reflection, I wanted to figure out how I am formatting my essay before I write it.

A good critical reflection should be guided by these questions:

Critical reflection
• How do your products represent social groups or issues?
• How do the elements of your production work together to create a sense of ‘branding’?
• How do your products engage with the audience?
• How did your research inform your products and the way they use or challenge conventions?

So, for my critical reflection I will use multiple paragraphs. My first paragraph will introduce audience members to the topic of my essay, while giving a brief description of my film. The second paragraph will go deeper into my media studies project, and it will discuss the research part of my film. The second paragraph will then go over the planning part of my film, and the third will go over the actual production itself. Then, I will have a paragraph that describes the audience members themselves- how they consume my media and how my media is distributed. The last paragraph will wrap up my entire film, including a small summary of each process and how it contributed to my film.

Here are a few things that I will talk about per each paragraph:

  • Research:
    • Theories
    • Mental Illnesses
    • Mise-en-scene
    • Foley Artists
    • Directors
  • Planning:
    • Participant Waivers
    • Proportioning in Film
    • Storyboard
    • Reece Reports
    • Analyzing Scenes with Notes
  • Production:
    • Filming Days
    • Editing on CapCut
    • Including Sound
    • Overlays
    • Titling
  • Media Consumption:
    • YouTube
    • Instagram
    • Marketing

Overall, the specific format of my film will accurately respond to each of these questions.
