For my Media Studies project, I constantly draw inspiration from A24 film productions. However, I want to talk about opening sequences for movies. I enjoyed Umbrella Academy, a Netflix TV show, just because of their plot twists, sequencing, and their transitions between titles. The common eye-match with objects in the show that transitions into a titling sequence.
For example, these are the titles that show the eye matches with a common object that the show associates with.
These titling sequences are something that I want to incorporate in my short film, using objects to represent the title and other events that happen in the film. While it isn't an entire film, the short film deserves the creative aspect that I can give to it through panning, action matching, and eye matching- along with editing.
Overall, I enjoy watching these, so why not use them myself? It would up the emotional value of my show, creating intrigue in audience members so that they feel like the film is more personal to them. Their ability to connect the two objects together will make them feel special and help them to understand and keep their concentration on a creative film that mine will be.
